PART 1: night time

Before going to bed

Many times - not to say most of the times - life bombards us with challenges that we need to overcome. Seeing them as challenges is actually one way to look at situations in life. But in many cases, we just look as these situations as lack of something.

Lack of things comes as a direct consequence of wanting something to be a certain way, and not having it be that way. We genuinely think that life would be so much better or easier, if we could have this or that. And you are probably not wrong! That is true.

However, the fact that we think that way, does not make challenges go away. But what could - indeed- go away, is the lack that we are experiencing.

It's no news that every difficult situation is an opportunity for growth. If you go listen to the stories of most successful people, you will hear them talk about how their successes were born out of their most difficult moments in life.

Then why do some people create such incredible things out of their challenging moments and some don't? The answer is simple. Because of their ability to change their perspective, and shift from a ''lack'' to an ''opportunity'' mindset.

There are 2 kinds of people.

First, there is the people that are constantly talking about how their circumstances don't serve them, and how other people have it easier than them.

And then, there is the people that are constantly looking on the bright side of things, and tweaking their perspective on them, so that what looks like a terrible nightmare, turns into the beginning of something great.

It doesn't matter what kind of person you have been :) What matters, is who you choose to be - today - and from now on.

So, what kind of person do you want to be? If you joined this challenge, there is a 99.9% chance that you are willing to be the second kind.

So, let's get started with our journaling and dig into tonight's topic!

journaling

What's missing?

** This goes for every journaling session:

Take a pen or pencil and a piece of paper, and get ready to let yourself BE.

I personally love to create a set-up that I am excited about. For me, this means searching on spotify for some relaxing meditation music (usually something without lyrics, to not be distracted or biased by them), maybe turning on a candle, getting some tea or coffee, and VERY important, sit comfortably. Find a position that doesn't make your back or neck hurt, so that you can write for as long as you need to. **

Today, I want you to be honest with yourself, and write about what's missing in your life. What are those things that you would like to be different in your life? What circumstances are so challenging, that you wish they were not the way they are, so that your life could be easier? It's okay to want to have things be different in life. It's okay to have a preference for things being easier. That's just human nature. We will always prefer the option that requires less effort, and that's okay, it's just a matter of nature programming. So, with no judgement toward yourself, tell your piece of paper, what would make your life so much easier?

- When you are done writing, come back here and read the following -

Now that you have finished journaling, take some time to acknowledge yourself for being brave enough to do this activity.

Put your hands on your chest, and say thank you.

Now, put what you wrote somewhere safe, because you will need it tomorrow morning :)

- For tomorrow morning -

Tomorrow, we will do some visualisation and meditation. All together, this will take 15min. However, save yourself some extra 15min to read the instructions.

In total, expect to use 30min of your morning.

I know. You may have to wake up a little earlier than usual, but trust me, it will be worth it.

Thank you so much for joining this beautiful challenge, have a great night sleep, and see you tomorrow :)

part 2: morning time

Before starting your day

VISUALISATION

- Click here to listen on spotify to my favourite background playlist for this activity -

Good morning friend!

Take out what you wrote yesterday in your journaling session, and take some time to read through it.

- Continue reading below, after you are done reading your writing -

Now, read the next paragraph until the end, and then follow the instructions in it.

Put on some relaxing/meditation music, set your timer to 5 minutes and close your eyes. Imagine yourself facing the situations that, as you described in your journaling, you would prefer not having to face. Reality is, that as much as we would like circumstances to change for us, that's not in our hands. However, what is in our hands, is our perspective about them. Now, as you imagine yourself in those nasty situations, reflect on a way (or several ways) in which these circumstances could be seen as opportunities. If you could make the best of these uncomfortable situations, what would that look like? Allow yourself to see things differently. Visualise yourself taking advantage of the challenges that life has given you. Picture, how you could grow from these. Imagine, what personal skills you could develop from this.

- When you are done, come back here for your meditation session :) -

MEDITATION

- For this activity, you can keep the same music that you used for your visualisation exercise -

In today's meditation, we will practice rest and surrender.

Now, read the next paragraph until the end, and then follow the instructions in it.

Put on some relaxing/meditation music, set your timer to 10 minutes and close your eyes. When it comes to meditation, my goal is to bring you closer to feeling comfortable with uncomfortable feelings during your meditation practice, and therefore during your life. What this means, is that you learn to feel emotions such as fear and doubt, and allow them to move through your body, without necessarily acting upon them. In this meditation, we will focus on surrender. Notice your thoughts, your feelings, and your being, and just let them be. Let them be in you, as they are. Understand, that for 10 minutes, you need to do nothing, but be they way you are. We are not aiming for anything. We are not looking for peace, for silence or for answers. We are allowing ourselves to experience what it is to be a human being. Support yourself through the journey, be kind, and remember that there is no wrong way to do this :) Let's go!

during your day

Ask to see an opportunity

Well done! Your morning practice is done and I am so proud of you.

Now, I will just ask you to do one thing during the day:

Be willing and open to a change in perspective.

Sometimes, it is hard for us to see opportunities in difficult situations. It feels like we need to do an inhumane amount of effort to actually find an opportunity. This is why, I will ask you to be patient and willing at the same time. What this means, is that if you don't automatically see an opportunity in front of you, when something difficult presents itself, ask the universe for a change in perspective - and wait.

This might sound a little crazy for you, but what you are doing is simply being willing to change, and this is always the first step toward growth. You are planting the seed of change in your brain, and slowly allowing it develop into an idea, with willingness and patience. Trust that you can see things differently, and expect an answer - even if you can't see it right away.

You are all set. Have a beautiful day, and see you tonight in our journaling session!

Love,

Mary.
