''Breathe your life philosophy''

PART 1: night time 

Before going to bed 

One thing is to define our life philosophy, and a very different one is to actually breathe it. 

Yesterday you did an incredible job defining your life philosophy, and taking the first step into living by it. However, similar to when we try to build a new habit, things will inevitably try to get in the way of our growth. 

No need to panic! There is a cure for this, and it is called anticipation.

Have you ever known in your heart the best way to approach a situation, but then felt a little guilty because that's not what the people around you are doing? This is then followed by a feeling of anger that comes from not wanting to feel guilty, because you know that you are in your right to think and feel the way you feel.


What happens is that we end up feeling conflicted. We don't know if we should push to be who we want to be and ignore the feeling of guilt, or if we should just let it go and surrender to the current.

But what if I told you that you could be who you want to be and follow your own rules, without feeling guilty?

Most of the time, we give too much power to the opinions of other people. Thinking about what we think they are thinking about us, and not liking it, makes us go crazy. We believe that the cause of our inner conflict is them, but really, it is us.


And this is great news! Because if we are the cause, we are also the solution.

So how do we solve this? 

We anticipate the world's resistance to our life philosophy, and before we even see it happen, we choose to let it be - and be at peace with it.


We will be at peace with lack of acceptance and unapologetically, breathe our life philosophy.


Why unapologetically? Because we are not talking about choosing between a yellow or a pink shirt. We are talking about your values. We are talking about what is important to you. We are talking about the seed of your happiness. You wouldn't trade that over nothing right?

This brings us to today's journaling session.

Take a pen or pencil and a piece of paper, and get ready to let yourself BE. 


I personally love to create a set-up that I am excited about. For me, this means searching on Spotify for some relaxing meditation music (usually something without lyrics, to not be distracted or biased by them), maybe turning on a candle, getting some tea or coffee, and VERY important, sit comfortably. Find a position that doesn't make your back or neck hurt, so that you can write for as long as you need to. 

Today, I want you to anticipate the things that could go wrong. I want you to answer this question: what or who can get in the way of you living your life philosophy? Which people, what behaviours, which comments could try to drag you back to living a life philosophy that is not aligned with what you chose for yourself yesterday? I want you to follow the answer to that question by the answer to the following: does it make sense to trade your energy, your time, your peace, your life, over that?

When you are done writing, come back here and read the following.


Now that you have finished journaling, take some time to acknowledge yourself for being brave enough to do this activity. 


Put your hands on your chest, take 3 deep breaths and say thank you. 


Knowing your life philosophy is not the same as breathing it. Breathing your life philosophy means remembering your values and what's important to you, before making every single one of your decisions. Practice making this a habit, and you are in for a life without regrets. 


Now, put what you wrote somewhere safe, because you will need it tomorrow morning :) 


For tomorrow morning.


Tomorrow, we will do some visualisation and meditation. All together, this will take 15min. However, save yourself some extra 15min to read the instructions.


In total, expect to use 30min of your morning. 


I know. You may have to wake up a little earlier than usual, but trust me, it will be worth it.

Good morning friend! 


Today we continue with our challenge, and it's time for some visualisation minutes. This exercise is quite simple and fun, but it is very effective. 

I want you to take out what you wrote yesterday in your journaling session, and take some time to read through it.


Continue reading below, after you are done reading your writing.


Now, read the next paragraph until the end, and then follow the instructions in it. 


Put on some relaxing/meditation music, set your timer to 5 minutes and close your eyes. I want you to anticipate everything that could get in the way of you breathing your life philosophy and visualise it happening. Now, I want you to remember what's important to you and why. Think about what your life would look and feel like, if you made it a habit to breathe your life philosophy. For the next 5 minutes, allow yourself to stand for what's important to you, and enjoy it.


When you are done, come back here for your meditation session.


For this activity, you can keep the same music that you used for your visualisation exercise.


In today's meditation, we will reinforce yesterday's meditation intention: practicing acceptance of our thoughts.


For this, instead of overwhelming ourselves with too many different meditations, we will repeat yesterday's meditation.


The aim of this, is to become more familiar and comfortable with the practice.


You will notice how the same meditation can lead you to completely different places in different moments. 


Now, read the next paragraph until the end, and then follow the instructions in it. 


Put on some relaxing/meditation music, set your timer to 10 minutes and close your eyes. The fact that your brain is generating your thoughts, means that you are not your thoughts. Since you are not your thoughts, you are allowed to look at them and disagree with them. Have you ever noticed that in a fragment of a second you may have thoughts that contradict each other? There is almost an ongoing conversation in your head, all the time. During the next 10 minutes allow yourself to just observe this process happening. Let yourself look at your thoughts, and either agree or disagree with them - but always accept them. You can not keep your brain from thinking, so you need to make peace with the fact that millions of thoughts will exist in your head. However, what you can do is respectfully disagree with them. Are you ready? Let's do this. 

during your day

Remember what you'd give up on

Well done! Your morning practice is done and I am so proud of you. 


Now, I will just ask you to do one thing during the day:


Every time your life philosophy is being threatened, remember what you would give up on, if you surrendered to someone else's life philosophy. For everything that you choose, you loose something else. Don't choose to go with the current, if you don't want to loose what's important and meaningful to you. 

I will ask you to set 3 reminders in your phone throughout your day. Maybe one at 11.00am, another at 1.00pm and another at 3.00pm, but this is completely up to you.


At these times, take 3 deep breaths, remember what's important to you, and then say to yourself:

''My decisions shape my life. Therefore, all my decisions should be made based on what's important to me. I am in charge of my decisions. I owe it to myself to be mindful of everything that I choose, and make sure that I am aligned with what brings meaning to my life''.
