PART 1: night time 

Before going to bed 

If I handed you 1000 dollars right now, what would you do with them?

 

Would you put them somewhere safe and think carefully about how to spend them, or would you just throw them away or spend them on some meaningless stuff? I bet you would take care of them.

 

Now, how much do you think you are worth? Would you say you are worth more than 1000 dollars? I would say you - definitely - are.

 

You are worth billions of billions, and so am I. But if this is true, then why do we sometimes treat ourselves like we are worth 50 cents?  

In most companies, they pay a certain amount of money for our time and we are thrilled to accept it as if they were doing us a huge favour. Let me tell you that you are worth so much more than whatever the company you work for pays you for your time.  

They are paying you to perform certain tasks. And the amount of money they pay, is what performing those tasks costs. That's reasonable. However, they don't own you. 

They don't own your happiness, your mood, your emotions, your right to rest, your peace, your joy.

They don't own any of that - and as a matter of fact - nobody other than you does. So make sure to keep your hands on those things because they belong to you. Your worth belongs to you, and it is up to you to keep it safe. Don't hand it out to just anybody. 

Be mindful about your time and your energy, because everything that I mentioned up there, has a very tight relationship with these 2. 

This brings us to today's journaling session.

** This goes for every journaling session: 

 

Take a pen or pencil and a piece of paper, and get ready to let yourself BE. 

 

I personally love to create a set-up that I am excited about. For me, this means searching on spotify for some relaxing meditation music (usually something without lyrics, to not be distracted or biased by them), maybe turning on a candle, getting some tea or coffee, and VERY important, sit comfortably. Find a position that doesn't make your back or neck hurt, so that you can write for as long as you need to. **

Today, I want you to answer what or who is taking most of your time and energy? When you answer this question, be specific. Don't just say ''my job'', or ''my partner''. Go a little deeper and let it out. I love to think about time and energy as measures of the same thing. If you have time but you don't have energy you've got zero. It's like 1 x 0 = 0. And if you have energy but you don't have time, it's basically the same thing. So think about where exactly are these going? 

I will ask you to follow the answer to that question with the answer to this one: are those things or people worth your time and energy? Remember that you are worth billions or billions, not just 50 cents. So be honest here. I will give you an example of my own to help you a little to get started.

I put a lot of my time and energy in creating these challenges and all the content inside Trips in Silence. For me, that is totally worth it. This is something that I love doing and which allows me to be of service to the people that need me the most. However, it was not only until I started to protect my energy in my day work, that I could start investing more time and energy into this. Why? Because even though I always had time after work, I was so mentally exhausted that I could not find energies to do this thing that I love. So then I asked myself, why am I so tired after work? It's not like I'm running marathons there. And I realised that I was using too much energy trying to understand why other people are sometimes so negative, and thinking about what an amazing world this would be if they just changed a little. I was basically focusing on my hopes of seeing change in people that are not seeking change. As soon as I dropped that and let them go on with their journey, I recovered energy that I needed, and now I use it where it serves me.

So now it's your turn. Where are you putting your time and energy, and are those people/things worth your value or not?

Now that you have finished journaling, take some time to acknowledge yourself for being brave enough to do this activity. 

 

Put your hands on your chest, take 3 deep breaths and say thank you. 

 

You are not worth 50 cents. You are not worth 10 dollars. You are not worth 1000 dollars. You are worth billions of billions. So stop treating your time and energy (aka yourself) as if you were worth a cheap plastic spoon. You are the most expensive thing that you own. Protect yourself as you deserve. 

 

Now, put what you wrote somewhere safe, because you will need it tomorrow morning :) 

 

- For tomorrow morning -

 

Tomorrow, we will do some visualisation and meditation. All together, this will take 15min. However, save yourself some extra 15min to read the instructions.

 

In total, expect to use 30min of your morning. 

 

I know. You may have to wake up a little earlier than usual, but trust me, it will be worth it.

Good morning friend! 

 

Today we continue with our challenge, and it's time for some visualisation minutes. This exercise is quite simple and fun, but it is very effective. 

I want you to take out what you wrote yesterday in your journaling session, and take some time to read through it.

Now, read the next paragraph until the end, and then follow the instructions in it. 

 

Put on some relaxing/meditation music, set your timer to 5 minutes and close your eyes. I want you to visualise yourself wearing the most expensive clothes that you can think of. Imagine how you would walk or to which places you would go, if you were wearing that. Now, I want you to realise that you don't need any of that to be expensive a.f. You are worth so much and you deserve to spend your time and energy doing things that are worth your value. Not doing so would be like scrubbing a toilet with a golden sponge. Now visualise yourself being smart and elegant about your time and energy.

- For this activity, you can keep the same music that you used for your visualisation exercise -

 

In today's meditation, we will practice chilling out.

 

Now, read the next paragraph until the end, and then follow the instructions in it. 

 

Put on some relaxing/meditation music, set your timer to 10 minutes and close your eyes. When we first start getting into meditation, we feel so much pressure to do it ''the right way''. But there is really no wrong or right way to do this, and we are creating all this pressure for no reason. The fact that you are here, doing this challenge, reading these lines, speaks so highly of you. You already have the wisdom to notice that knowing yourself and living your truth should be anyone's top priority. Look at this meditation as a moment to just be with yourself. Our lives are so filled with activity that we find it strange to just sit down and do nothing for 10 minutes. But how will you see what's inside of yourself if you don't allow yourself to just listen? To just see? I am not talking about sitting down to scroll through Instagram or Facebook and distract yourself from yourself. I am talking about being with yourself in the same way in which you would be with a friend. Be here. Stay here. Stay here with your thoughts, with your being, with your soul, with your body, with all of you. In the next 10 minutes you will allow yourself to be with yourself. It is so simple, and yet most people don't know how to do this. But you do, because here you are. Take the pressure off and let's go :)

Protect your value

Well done! Your morning practice is done and I am so proud of you. 

 

Now, I will just ask you to do one thing during the day:

 

Fiercely protect your value. Now that you are aware of your worth, protect it. Don't give into cheap offers. Don't do anything that's not worth your time and energy. Time that leaves never comes back. And energy that leaves, equals time that can't be used. Protecting your time and energy equals protecting your possibilities, your joy, your happiness, your life.

I will ask you to set 3 reminders in your phone throughout your day. Maybe one at 11.00am, another at 1.00pm and another at 3.00pm, but this is completely up to you.

 

At these times, take 3 deep breaths and then say to yourself:

 

''Not even the most expensive clothes could come close to my own natural value. I am the most expensive thing that I own, therefore I am choosing now, to treat myself the way that I deserve to be treated. I protect my time and energy, thus I protect my life''.
