When was the last time that you did something for yourself? But for yourself, really. For your soul. When was the last time that you allowed yourself to follow your heart, and gave yourself a break for everyone else's expectations, without feeling guilty about it?

Do you even know what you want? Do you even know what your soul wants for you? Do you even listen? Or are you too scared to admit to yourself that what you want, is not what others want for you?

What others want for yourself

That's the thing. Most of the time, what we want for ourselves is not what other people want for us. Our loved ones want us to be happy, but maybe they think that the wrong thing will make us happy. So because we're more used to listening to other people than to our soul, we choose to go through with what our loved ones say is best for us.

But what if they're not right? What if what they think will make you happy is not what will make you happy? At the end of the day, they're just human beings, just like you. They don't have a booklet with general rules to follow, to guarantee your happiness. That's the truth, they don't.

You'll only be able to welcome bliss and true inner peace into your life, when you become so awake to your reality, that the noise of the world around you, fades away into the illusion that it's always been.

''Everything happens for a reason''

People keep saying ''everything happens for a reason'', but only those of us who choose to wake up to our existence and feel it fully, know that that's true. Only those of us who do that, can say that because we know it, and not just because we heard it in some romantic comedy.

And if right now, while reading this, you thought of a time in which you genuinely realised that everything happened for a reason, know that that's proof that in your life, at some point, you've been aware of your soul's mission. And if after you did, your awareness fell asleep again, know that you can always bring it back to life.

Finding the hidden meaning

How? You may be wondering. Well, you start by being willing to live in connection to your soul. And you do this, by making meditation and reflection, part of who you are. When you make it a habit to try and find the hidden meaning in even the most insignificant things in your life, you're seeking to stay connected to your soul. You're ready for a purposeful life, in which you're not scared any more of following your own path. The path of your soul. A path, that you can only discover by being willing to connect to your soul and disconnect from the noise of the world.

Warm yourself up

And see, sometimes we think that reconnecting to our soul demands a huge and terrifying step. But the thing is, that what's terrifying for the ego is not terrifying for the soul, and what's a win for the ego, is many times a betrayal to the soul. So you don't have to make a big decision like quitting your job or moving abroad if you don't feel ready for it. But you can open up to the possibility of making that decision one day, sooner than later, and warm up to it by letting your soul guide your actions, until you're ready for the big jump.

You'll see that if you work on aligning your daily intentions and actions to your soul, and you stay committed and determined to living in alignment with your soul, you'll be slowly warming up your ego too, and one day, you'll be ready. One day, everything that you had to do and that you didn't like doing, will have been worth it. And when I say worth it, I don't mean that it's okay that you continue to do things that you don't like forever. What I mean is that, something that you don't love doing, when done with the right intention, becomes a simple tool for the soul.

Everything makes sense now

Today, I'm sure that everything that's happened in my life, was building me to be where I am today. The long mornings, afternoons and nights that I spent doing something that I didn't like, all led me to the freedom that I enjoy today. And the mindset that I developed to be able to stay calm and hopeful while all of that was happening, is what allowed me to stay strong for enough time.

I was wrong

The funny thing, is that when I started my mindfulness journey into becoming more awake and grateful about every little thing in my life, I thought that the reason why I was being transformed, was to discover that I could turn things that I didn't love, into things that I loved.

But what I just discovered, as of today as I'm sharing these words, is that the purpose of my transformation wasn't to be able to love what I didn't love. Instead, the purpose was to enjoy doing the things that I didn't love doing, for as long as I needed to do them, until I had put together the resources that I needed to say goodbye to those things that I don't love. And today, I get to say goodbye to those long hours doing something that doesn't speak to my soul.

For months, I developed a mindset that allowed me to stay calm and hopeful while doing things that I hated, and today, I can thank those things for giving me the freedom that I have to start doing something that I love.

Does this sound like you?

So maybe today, you feel stuck doing something that you don't love. And I'm not going to try to convince you that you have the wrong mindset, and that that's why you hate doing what you're doing. I won't, because you're probably right. If you feel that there are some things in your life that are not right, they're probably not right.

But I will tell you that you have 2 options to start living mindfully and purposefully today. You can either stop doing that thing that you hate right now, or you can continue doing it, but adding to it an intention linked to something bigger, something that drives you, something that's so strong, that you'd do anything to accomplish it.

Create your own link

So if you have a job that you don't like, or are studying something that you're not sure if it's for you, allow yourself to find something that truly excites you, and create a link between what you don't love and what you do. Create your own link. Create your own secret plan. And find a way to turn that shitty thing that you have to do, into a tool to get to where you want to be.

This is what the journey of your soul is about. But you wont be able to live it, if you're not willing to. Allow your soul to use your experiences as tools to get you to were your heart wants to be. Don't take any experience for granted, and never miss a chance to find meaning in what someone who's asleep to life, would call meaningless.

Nothing, is meaningless, if you look close enough.
